About the job:

We're a small team working on big problems. Our product is already used by thousands of teachers and it is having a real impact on their teaching.

We're looking for someone to work within the product development team to develop and maintain the current platform as well as create new features. You'll have a lot of say in how these features get implemented.

You'll work in an agile (small A) environment and deploy code regularly. As we're a small team, you'll need to be someone who is willing & happy to get involved in lots of different areas.

We like data (our business is based on it!) so we're looking for a person who's analytical and driven by the numbers rather than their own intuition.

We like to work with people who are self-motivated and down to earth.

So, if you enjoy building full stack applications from the ground up, leveraging the latest technologies to delight users and want to make a difference in the lives of teachers, students and parents, then you’re in the right place!

Job requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in backend, or full-stack engineering.
  • Work experience, open-source code, or coursework in ASP.NET / .NET Core / C#.
  • SQL experience (particularly SQL Server / SSMS)
  • Modern JavaScript framework experience (React, Angular or similar)
  • Experience with coding solid UIs with modern CSS, cross browser tested and accessible (thankfully schools don't use IE9 anymore!)
  • Experience with web development best practices such as A/B testing, continuous integration

Nice to have's:

  • NET Core 3.1+ / Entity Framework 6 / EF Core experience
  • Azure, AWS, Firebase or Google Cloud hosting experience
  • Event driven architecture / Azure Event Grid
  • Websockets / SignalR
  • TDD or BDD experience
  • Integration / Unit testing experience
  • Node.js
  • Docker
  • Server management / DevOps

    About you:

    • Excellent communication skills (written communication in particular)
    • Able to work, learn and research independently
    • Ability to manage tasks and development time effectively
    • Happy to learn new skills and share development knowledge
