What you'll be doing

This is a rare opportunity to join a startup solving a human problem at a pivotal moment.  You'll be a hands-on product designer working closely with the product manager, engineers and operations, you will help choose the most important business problems to solve and deliver value quickly to our customers.

The sorts of problems you can expect to take on:

• Help children feel the success of learning;
• Create motivating content and tools that can help children achieve their potential;
• Ensure our tutors can identify those who need help quickly and provide assistance.

This role brings together creativity, deep problem solving and collaboration.

• You'll be comfortable in a role with unlimited opportunity, as well as endless minefields, shaping the role as we grow;
• You'll be comfortable with - not just tolerant of - change and uncertainty;
• You'll operate with transparency, explain your thought process and how you're weighting each decision. You have to be able to sell your design vision to the entire company;
• You'll think with scale in mind and won't get caught up in checking the next task off the list, you'll be putting systems in place that will scale as the team grows;
• You'll be our only designer so you'll need to be a jack of most trades, a little familiar with almost everything, but resourceful in finding the answer if you don't;
• You'll work quickly: as our only designer we expect you to be pedal to the metal for the first year or two. Process is important, but losing sight of good for perfect is not a privilege to a design team of one. Speed is not a dirty word.

• We'd like to have the right person in place by the end of March.
  
• The salary range is £50-65K, depending on experience.
• This role should be of interest to mid-level designers wanting to test the breadth of their skills with a well-funded start-up with an established user base.
• You can do this role from anywhere in the UK. We are unlikely to hire someone living outside the UK.
